‘Harassed by female artists’, Azfar Rehman opens up about harassment

In a recent interview on Nashpati Prime’s Show By The Way, Model and Actor Azfar Rehman talked about his take on the #MeToo movement and his own experience of being harassed.

Talking about the #MeToo movement, Azfar Rehman said, “It’s a very sensitive topic, and nobody should be harassed. Everybody has the right to live the way they want to live.”

He continued: “You can never force yourself on anybody, that’s wrong. [Even] If it’s mutual consent, if two people like each other, there is an understanding and even there is an understanding of give and take, you still cannot force somebody, if someone is not interested you cannot force… it’s wrong.”

“I completely support the #MeToo campaign, and it’s great that people are coming out and calling for help,” he added.

However, sharing his opinion on exposing someone on social media, Azfar said, “Some people use these campaigns [#MeToo movement] to their [own] advantage.”

He also opened up about his experience of being harassed. “Being a male artist, I was also harassed by a couple of female artists in the past, but I don’t want to name [them]. I have ignored it,” he said, adding that women cannot always be right.

During the interview, the actor also reveled that he wanted to work in Bollywood. “I’ve got calls from casting agents for auditions. I sent them 3 to 4 auditions [videos] but they all got rejected.”
