Maya Ali, in a recent interview, opened up and revealed why she is returning to the small screen after a break of almost four years. She was last seen in Sanam alongside Osman Khalid Butt and Hareem Farooq.
Maya, who has delivered two hits Teefa In Trouble and Parey Hut Love in the last two years, is making a comeback on the television screen with the drama serial Pehli Si Mohabbat in which she will be sharing the screen with Sheheryar Munawar.
Speaking about her decision to return to the small screen, Maya said: “When you’re doing a film, all your focus is on a specific character and I was busy in both of my movies. Plus, I wanted to do a different character or story with a message for our society.”
“When Abdullah Seja called me from I-Dreams, I thought it would be the same typical story and I would have to say no to it. I also had multiple scripts from different production houses. But he told me that it’s written by Faiza Iftikhar and Anjum Shahzad will be directing it,” shared the actor.
“In my ten-year career, I, unfortunately, couldn’t work with Anjum and suddenly I realised that this is the project I want to do and Anjum always does great work, Khaani being one of the most prominent. When I received the script for 10-12 episodes, I read them overnight [because I was so excited],” said Maya further.
Giving a sneak peek about the upcoming drama, Maya said: “You won’t see typical saas bahu fights and affairs in it. You will feel that you have heard or seen this story, because there’s a love story as evident from the title Pehli Si Muhabbat, and everyone has experienced their first love story.”
“Some people find their first love and some people live with keeping it in their hearts,” she added.
Maya also said that she is happy that she waited for the right drama because Pehli Si Mohabbat is “worth it”.
On her chemistry with Sheheryar, Maya said: “There are countless positives in Sheheryar. He is a very good human being, actor and a very good producer. When I did Parey Hut Love with him, we developed great chemistry and I thought we could work together in future but we didn’t plan to do any other project or drama together right after the film. Some things are written in fate and I am enjoying working [on the drama serial] after four years and he is working after seven years on TV. So I am grateful and enjoying working with him again.”
She added that she was doing the drama because of Anjum and when she was told that Sheheryar will also be a part of it, she decided that she will definitely go ahead with it.
“Ab toh ghar wali baat hai,” concluded Maya.
