Some movies are classic, and no director, actors and its fans want it to be touched. Rangeela, starring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar and Jackie Shroff is one such movie. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the 1995 movie was also loved for its great music by AR Rahman.
From the past few years, the trend of remakes is going strong in Bollywood. Movies such as Agneepath, Don, Pati Patni Aur Woh and many others have been remade. But is RGV okay with the remake of his 1995 successful romantic drama? The filmmaker opens up.
Ram Gopal Varma feels that his two movies Rangeela and Satya, are near perfect and they don’t need to be remade. Along with the story, fans loved the actors’ performance in it. People were in awe of Urmila Matondkar’s beauty, and that’s one of the reasons why RGV had cast her.

Ram Gopal Varma told PTI, “Honestly speaking, in all the films that I made in my career and there are plenty of them, I feel I could not have made Rangeela and Satya better than what they are. Rangeela and Satya were near perfect, so I don’t think I would make them again.”
About casting Urmila, he said, “She worked in my Telugu film Gaayam, and when I saw her dancing, I felt mesmerised. In fact, she is the main reason why I was inspired to make the film. It was to capture her beauty.”
Well, that’s a sigh of relief for all Rangeela fans.
