Former Indian cricket skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket this evening, and we cannot process this sudden shock. Dhoni last played for Team India during the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

Dhoni captained the national ODI team from 2007 to 2016 and the Test cricket team from 2008 to 2014. Under his captaincy, India won two World Cups — 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Dhoni took to Instagram a while ago and shared the news of his retirement. He posted: “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.” Along with the post he shared a sweet video capturing his journey in the Indian team.

Bollywood actors and crickets have taken to social media reacting to the news of MS Dhoni’s retirement. While many have expressed their sadness, others posted celebrating his career.

Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, “Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, @msdhoni . Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life. Wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings.”
