Yesterday, T-series released the recreated version of AR Rahman’s cult loved song Masakali from Delhi 6, titled Masakali 2.0. The song in no time fell in the lap of criticism as the veteran Rahman himself has condemned it. Now the director of Delhi 6 Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and many celebs have expressed their disconcert over the Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria starrer single.
While the song has been facing a huge backlash on social media, we saw director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra advised people to stick to the original as the recreation might damage eardrums.
He wrote, “#Masakali #Delhi6 Created with love & passion an iconic song that has to be preserved. Beware of the re- mix it will damage your eardrums.”

Also upset, is Prasoon Joshi who has the soulful lyrics of the song to his credit. The writer-composer in his reaction wrote, “All songs written for #Delhi6 including #Masakali close to heart,sad to see when original creation of @arrahman @prasoonjoshi_ &singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Upto the conscience of @Tseries. Hopefully the fans will stand for originality. @RakeyshOmMehra.”

Meanwhile, we also saw A R Rahman react to it in a cryptic way. On his Instagram handle, the veteran singer-composer shared a graphic which had written, ‘The Strongest Man Is He Who Is Able To Control His Anger,’ on it. On twitter he expressed how the original song was a fruit of the hardwork of a year. Which included 200 musicians, director, lyricist, dance choreographers and the zest to create something that will last for generations. He also told people to enjoy the original version.

Not just the team but also many members from the fraternity have expressed that they are upset with Masakali 2.0. A few reactions are compiled below.
This 'recreation' of old songs can stop if the public rejects them. The numbers on YouTube for godawful versions of old songs are huge and hence music companies keep producing them. Stop viewing the videos. Stop listening to the songs. Stop playing them at events. They will stop.
